Congregation Beth Ahm is a Conservative synagogue with a belief in a common Jewish heritage, serving the Metropolitan Detroit area with a philosophy of equality of men and women fully participating in religious, educational, cultural, and social activities. Emphasis is placed on family-like relationships between members working together to provide a community of caring.
Congregation Beth Ahm will become a dynamic center of Jewish life through:
Education: We take education seriously at all levels, because it is difficult to be a serious Jewish person without Jewish knowledge. By offering a variety of quality learning opportunities for the spectrum of Jews (young and old, beginners and advanced learners, men and women), we enable our congregants to think and grow as individuals, and our congregation to grow as a community.
Prayer: By providing the proper setting, education, and opportunities, we will enable our congregation to make prayer a meaningful part of their lives. We will achieve this through a modern approach, which incorporates a dedication to traditional Jewish prayer and sensitivity to the mixed background of the Jewish community today.
Action: To be Jewish is to do Jewish – American Jews today are called upon to take action in several arenas: the congregation, the Jewish community, the general community, the State of Israel, and the world at large. We must maintain a dual-focus of caring for those within our walls, as well as taking an active role in perfecting the world around us through our actions.
